The 7th district of Paris

Museums and monuments

This Parisian district is one of the most beautiful districts of the capital. You can find a large part of the official and/or political institutions like the Matignon hotel.

You can also discover the National Assembly at the Palais Bourbon, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the UNESCO headquarters, the Invalides, the Military School, etc.

A large number of embassies and the Île-de-France regional council are located in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, just a few minutes walk from our hotel.

In the 7th arrondissement, you will also find a multitude of museums:

  • The musée du quai Branly (the most modern);
  • The Musée d’Orsay (large collection of impressionist works);
  • The Rodin museum, dedicated to the work of the famous sculptor and the Maillol museum, rue de Grenelle.

Of course, there is also the sublime Eiffel Tower and its esplanade of the Champ de Mars.

Green spaces and parks

The 7th district gathers a good number of squares, parks and green spaces. The best known is of course the Champ de Mars and the Eiffel Tower which overlooks this green esplanade, ideal for joggers or walkers. Or the esplanade of the Invalides which gives an ideal view on the military building.

The square Roger-Stéphane, Juliette-Récamier street, is also one of the pretty little green spaces of the 7th district. Just like the Denys-Bühler square, also called the square of silence, or the gardens of the Oudinot clinic, Rousselet street. Let’s not forget the Catherine-Labouré garden, located in the Invalides district, in Babylone street.

Walks and strolls

In this Parisian district, pleasant walks and strolls are not to be missed.

If you are staying in a hotel in the 7th district, large avenues are lined with trees and decorated with flowers. You will also see many commemorative plates for great figures in history.

You can enjoy the rue Cler, a few steps from the hotel du Cadran. A pretty pedestrian and cobbled street, you will find many food shops, including the Ladurée macaroon store, famous throughout the world.

There is also the rue du Bac where several commemorative plates are placed. The rue de l’Université is also home to several 18th century mansions and several commemorative plates are placed: Alphonse Daudet lived in this street, as did Lamartine, Alexandre Dumas and Talleyrand.

Breweries and restaurants

In the 7th, there is no lack of restaurants, breweries and bars. There are chic breweries as well as more intimate addresses and gastronomic restaurants: Loiseau rive gauche (one Michelin star) and the restaurant Auguste – Gaël Orieux, both located on rue de Bourgogne.

You will also find within walking distance the restaurants Nakatani, one star in the Michelin guide; the Violon d’Ingres, also one star in the Michelin guide, or Le Jules Verne, the restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Eiffel tower.

Others have obtained a Michelin plate or the Michelin Bib Gourmand, a sign of excellent gastronomic meals that are highly appreciated by the inspectors. Traditional breweries also have a good place in the district, notably a few steps from the Cadran Hotel, at Champ de Mars street and Clerc street.

Markets and Le Bon Marché

In the 7th district, the Bon Marché is an emblem of the city ! The Bon Marché Rive Gauche is a place not to be missed; a must during your visit to Paris to soak up the Parisian life.

Le Bon Marché is the oldest market in the capital. The products offered are excellent and high-end products, at quite high prices.

You can find food at La Grande Épicerie of Paris but also luxury items for women, men and children, beauty products, for the house and a bookstore and stationery area.

Another market is present in the district: the Saxe-Breteuil market, on Saxe avenue. You can buy vegetables, fruits, meat and fish, cheese… But also non-food products such as clothes, shoes, household items, etc.

It is a weekly market that takes place on Thursdays and Saturdays, all day long. Another good reason to stay in the 7th district and to find a hotel in the 7th.
