The history of the Military school
Built under Louis XV from 1768 to 1780, this royal military academy is worth a visit. At least for its breathtaking exterior architecture.
Convinced that its mobilized troop were not ready enough for the fight during the war of succession of Austria, Marshal Saxe suggested its creation to Louis XV.
It is now an architectural masterpiece that we owe to Ange-Jacques Gabriel. He also designed the Château de Compiègne and the Place de la Concorde as well.
